Report of the International scientific and practical conference of JM module “STIPENDIUM”

      On September 9, 2022, an International Scientific and Practical Conference in framework of the STIPENDIUM JM module STIPENDIUM was held in an online format on the Zoom platform, on the topic “Shared and safe Europe of strong states”. The event was organized by IRD of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University under the auspices of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine jointly with the support of Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (ЕАСЕА), the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in close cooperation with partner HEIs of Grinchenko University from Spain, Italy, Romania and Ukraine.

The event was attended by about twenty people, including representatives of NEO in Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian European Studies Association (UESA), invited foreign speakers, members of the project teams of Jean Monet projects of national HEIs, the target audience of the STIPENDIUM project (PhD students of Grinchenko University). This international conference brought together scientists from various regions and universities of Ukraine as well as the University of Cadiz (Spain), University of Foggia (Italy) and Ovidius University in Constanta (Romania) to discuss very important EU related topics.

In the welcoming speech, the coordinator of the STIPENDIUM project, senior research fellow of IRD of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, prof. TETIANA Kostiuk drew attention to the fact that the subject of the project has not lost its relevance over the years, therefore the topics proposed for discussion have not only appeared harmoniously over time, but have also been enriched with new aspects that expand the horizons of scientific exploration.

As well the event was attended by the UESA President, prof. OKSANA Holovko-Havrysheva, who emphasized the importance of European integration as a civilizational choice of Ukraine, the need to keep actively implementing European scientific projects and European studies in Ukraine to popularize and affirm fundamental societal values, democratic aspirations and good management practices.

OLHA Vyhovska, a leading member of the project team, PhD, head of IRD of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, emphasized that despite the fact that Ukraine is only at the very beginning of joining the community of European nations, it has never stood aside from regional processes, was not only active their participant, and often their promoter.

The speakers focused on such topical issues as: the functioning, politics and values of the EU now and further, the effectiveness of supranational bodies and international organizations, security challenges for Europe, peacekeeping, the Ukrainian integration path to the EU, actual social and humanitarian challenges and other EU related topics.

At the end of the event, a question-and-answer format was offered, participants had the opportunity to receive comprehensive consultations on project management, European studies, new criteria of the Erasmus+ programs, etc.

As a result of the attended event, the Learning Outcomes are following: participants deepened their knowledge on the European integration of Ukraine; social challenges and responses to them by EU member states; EU positions on maintaining peace, stability and security in the region; prospects for EU development in the near future and Ukraine’s prospects for EU membership.
